PREACH, PREACHER!!

In our world today, it seems to be a downward spiral in the quality of preaching and the desire for preaching amongst the pews. There seems to be an uprising of a generation of Churches and preacher's concerning themselves with entertainment over evangelism and "playing" over preaching. If a preacher preaches today in a traditional manner, traditionally as in biblical times or even just a few years back, they will be labeled with many criticizing words.

Preacher, I know there is a desire in you to have everyone like you and not to "stir the pot" while preaching. HOWEVER, we are not out to be a comedy show for the audience. If people come to your Church because your "cool", then hear me out, "they will at some point leave you, to find the next "coolest" dude in town".  I am aware that the personality of the preacher will be manifested in his preaching, and rightly so, for we must be who we are in and out of the pulpit. However, if you gotta try to be something that you are not, to gain a crowd, then it's just a show!

Church, there is nothing more refreshing to a pastor than to stand and preach week in and week out with the liberty of the spirit. Church, your faithfulness and attentiveness to the preaching of the Bible plays a role into the spirit's liberty during the preaching services. If you are reluctant to listen or dissatisfied in some area, it can and will quench the spirit of God during services. Church, Don't be a spirit quencher from the preacher. Preaching & pastoring is a precious method in which God uses for the Gospel to be spread. Let the freedom of preaching be in our congregations! (I am thankful to the Lord today, that I stand week in and week out at Faith Baptist Church, with the liberty of the spirit of God to preach!)

Preacher I want to encourage you today, to preach the WORD! (1st Timothy 4:1-5) Preaching is to be the method in which God has called & equipped you to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
To Churches and their members across America, I want to challenge you to be hungry for the preaching of the unadulterated, nor watered down, Word of God.

E.M Bounds says it best, “God’s method is men, Church is looking for better methods, God is looking for better men.”

I find how Solomon used the methods of His words to allow the sufficiency of Christ and the Word of God to be the center of His preaching/teaching/writing. Solomon sought to be precise in his words, for he was handling a precise word for the world. I Challenge each preacher and member to see the passage below, followed by some explanation and application on the passage.

Ecclesiastes 12:9-12 (KJV)
9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh

#1 – (V10) – THE STRATEGY IS SANCTIFIED

Solomon organized His words in order to be most effective to the hearers and readers. Notice these words, where words of truth. Our words as preacher's and as member's of the Church must always come in words of truth. In 1st & 2nd Timothy, Paul warned young timothy not to get caught in the use of vain words, arguments, or myths leading to ungodliness.

God has ordained the method of preaching, a strategy sanctified for the proclamation of the Gospel. (Romans 10:13-18) Preacher your handling a very precise truth, handle it with highest quality. The Gospel must be preached correctly as pleasing to the Lord. (Galatians 1:6-10)

In a world of methods, strategies, programs, events, and fellowships, PREACHER JUST PREACH!!

#2 – (V.11) – THE SAVIOR IS SECURE

Solomon's instruction to the people came from "one shepherd". Solomon spoke about His words are like goad's and well driven nails. Goad's were to move reluctant animal's and nails to secure in place. The saviors instructions ought to be the driving force behind prompting preacher's to preach and Church member's to heed the instructions of the Word of God. Only the savior's words are powerful enough to move and secure people.  Preacher, Preach, making sure the savior is secured in the Words of your messages.

In a world of motivational speeches, pep talks, and polished presentations, PREACHER GET TO THE SACRED PLACE OF GOD, RECEIVING A WORD FROM THE "ONE SHEPPERD", JESUS CHRIST, AND PREACH IT PREACHER!

#3 – (V.12) – THE SCRIPTURE IS SUFFICIENT

Solomon realized that young men can get wrapped up into all the readings and studying of books and all it does is lead to weariness and "vanity".  In all we do, especially in preaching, preacher the scripture should be sufficient in your message. We can use books and different reading material, however, when it comes down to it, the scripture should be the sole authority of our preaching.

In a world of self help and how to books, library's overflowing with shelves of books, and with Internet sites full of sermons, PREACHER, PUT IT ALL BEHIND AND OPEN THE BIBLE, THE BREATH OF GOD, AND PREACH, PREACHER!!

IN CONCLUSION, CHURCH, LOOK FORWARD TO THE LIBERTY OF YOUR PASTOR TO PREACH THE WORD FOR YOUR INSTRUCTION.
PREACHER PREACH, THE BOOK, BLOOD, AND BLESSED HOPE!!

AMERICA NEDDS AN "OLE SCHOOL" MOVE OF THE HOLY GHOST!

There is a deep need for our Churches, Communities, & Country to get a dose of the Holy Ghost, the pentecostal power.  Check out the sermon below entitled, "THE DAY REVIVAL BREAKS LOOSE".  Heaven sent revival will not be a picture of the culture we live, but character transformation to the "ole paths" of the bible.

SERMON LINK:    http://sermon.net/spplayer/client/24409   (business picks up about 7min into message)

MARK 2:1-2:  "And again he entered into capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them."

We need Jesus Christ to enter again His power into our gathering. There is a lot of noise going on in our gatherings, but it doesn't seem to be that of our Lord Jesus Christ Preaching the Word. When Jesus Enters the House there will be a lot of talk and actions changing demeanour.

COMING SOON: ARTICLE TITLED: "OLE FASHION, HEAVEN SENT REVIVAL"   (BASED ON GENESIS 35, THE BIBLES FIRST REVIVAL)

REVIVAL IS ABOUT GOING BACK TO WHERE THE POWER AND PRESENCE OF GOD IS, NOT MOVING FORWARD WITH THE WIND OF THE WORLD!

"Whippersnapper's" to the ministry, vocational or volunteer?

I remember clearly the days in my life when the Lord called me to be a vocational minister. I am what many would say, the age of a "young whippersnapper", 29. However, as I reflect back 13 years ago when I was called to the ministry it seems the course of events and thoughts I had in my life are vastly different than young men "called to ministry" today. THEREFORE, I WANT TO TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND VOICE SOME CONCERNS ON THE "CALL TO MINISTRY OF YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPER'S".

It seems many young men are loosing sight on what it means to be "called into the ministry". Not only my concern for them in the ministry, but what will happen to the Churches across the world in 10-15 years when the "whippersnappers" haven't figured out what ministry is all about. Ministers are not volunteers in the Church, they are vocational men with a life long calling to the ministry. In these days young "whippersnappers" are making the ministry look like a volunteer Job.

Here are a few of my concerns that could bring devastation to the meaning of ministry:

#1 - HALF-HEARTEDNESS
I'm watching young men across the country flopping in their commitment to the ministry. One minute you find them excited about ministry opportunities, the next minute you're "texting" them to see where they've been for 6 weeks. One day you're celebrating their ordination service, the next day you hear their interviewing for a business opportunity. One month you're disciplining them, leading them, and even letting them preach, and and then the next month, they are just motivational Chaplin's at ballgames, on Sunday's none the less. One year you see them excel with potential of pastoring, the next year their chasing dreams of life in this earthly world.

I see young men hit and miss on activities, unfaithful to the duties of the Church. It seems to me these young men are just volunteer Church members picking and choosing what they wanna do! Young men, if your going to do the work of the ministry, jump in, fully committed, consistently faithful, proving yourselves men of God! Young man, if your not in, then say your not. However, don't come belly aching your not getting your way and the Church is not listening to you!  EARN YOUR RESPECT AND HONOR BY BEING COMMITTED TO THE MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH! (1st Peter 5:5, Titus 2:6-8)

#2 - SECULAR SECURITY
There are two concerns I see becoming a trend in young men, contrary to a traditional call to the ministry.

First, young men have a need to pursue a secular education rather than heading to ministry education. I hear young men say something like this, "well, I need something to fall back on". YOUNG MEN, IF GOD IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD YOU UP IN THE MINISTRY, THEN YOU DON'T NEED TO BE IN THE MINISTRY!  Listen young men, if God called you, then God will care for you!

Second, young men are voicing their cool new trend of not taking pay from the Church. They seem as though they want a volunteer position in the Church, rather than wanting a life long vocational call to the ministry. They have good intentions, BUT, it is  a sign of a fence straddling commitment to vocational ministry. It sounds like a cool idea, so you can be "radical" for Jesus, however, it causes you and the Church you minister, to be disobedient. (1st Corinthians 9:14, 1st Timothy 5:17-18) We have been called to make our living by Gospel preaching and the Church commissioned to provide for the man plowing in the word. There seems to be a trend today, to make the Church a "for profit" business, turning the Church into a marketplace. The Local Church is a "non-profit" organization that operates by the tithes and offerings of the Churches Members!

#3 - REFORMED RESURGENCE
Young people are more impressed with John Calvin's system of salvation than they are with Jesus Christ. The thought of young people today is to reform the Church by a system of theology that is unbiblical. Unbiblical of the gospel, plan of salvation, and truth. Young men have been tired of the "traditional" Church, therefore, they are reading and seeking for a "reformed" way. However, reformed theology is not the answer to the concerns for a lack of commitment found in the pews.

Paul told young Timothy in 2nd Timothy 1 that the faith that was in His grandmother and mother, let that faith also rest in Him. Young men, find the faith and character of your fathers, fathers of Israel: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, etc... that lead them to be a successful people for God's glory! Young men, let us return to the reformations of Ezra and Nehemiah. Let us return by placing the Word of God in the position it deserves, proclaiming it from behind the pulpit of wood.

Many "reformed ways" are simply contradictory to scripture, leading to a downward spiral in Churches. Young men are stopping gospel invitations, ceasing to lead people in a "sinner's prayer", putting brakes on their evangelism thrust,  and teaching a system of theology contrary to scripture. (TULIP)

  #4 - CONVICTIONAL COMPROMISE
Young ministers in Churches are bringing devastation to what the functions of the Church are by      compromising biblical standards, theologies, and methodologies.

Local Church. Young people are losing the biblical principles and workings of the LOCAL CHURCH. It seems "whippersnappers" are more concerned with having circus's and carnivals than Church Services. Jesus Christ founded the Church upon the confession of men, in that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Christ started the Church, saved the Church, is sanctifying the Church, and we ought to call ourselves the Church! It seems the younger men would rather call their Church anything but a Church. In Baptist circles today, young men are ashamed to put "Baptist Church" on their sign. We are afraid to identify who we are in Christ, a local Church that is Baptist in theology and methodology.
To follow in this mind set of the compromising on the Local Church, is the idea to be ecumenical. It seems we will let any doctrine, methods, and idea's of scripture into the sheep's pen. When you join up with other forms of theology and methodologies, it will weaken you in your belief. (Hosea Prophesied) YOUNG MEN ARE TRYING TO GET ALONG WITH EVERY FORM OF DOCTRINE. YOUNG MEN, THERE WILL BE TIMES WE WILL NOT AGREE AND GET ALONG ON DOCTRINE!  (special note: you don't have to get along with all forms of religion just to try and draw a crowd!)

Secular Society. The list could go on for days here. We have all seen in some form, Churches are conforming to what society calls for them to do. In return, Churches lower their standards to get along with the world. We are leaning toward the extreme side of changing and becoming like them to gain them, that should not be the case. When you start hanging around in a Sodom & Gomorrah world notice where that gets you! (ask Lot, he will tell you.)

Young Men, if you’re going to be in the business of vocational ministry, you must be a prophet of God that stands alone.

WE NEED YOUNG MEN WHO HAVE BACKBONE, WHO STAND ON THE WORD OF GOD, AND DO NOT HAVE LACE ON THEIR LEVIS.

IN CONCLUSION, I still believe in an ole fashion call and course of actions in the traditions of our spiritual fathers, as a vocational call to ministry. Theses traditions were things done in biblical church/times and still should be carried out by young men today. Young man, make up your mind and be honest, are you vocational or volunteer? My prayer today, is that the Lord will raise up some young men with the spirit of Elijah, the passion for souls as Paul, the sacrificial life of John the Baptist, and the uncompromising proclamation of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

CHURCH AND CONSERVATIVE CONVICTIONS

Churches across America are showing signs of losing the meaning of being a Church of Conservative Convictions! Conservative Convictions are not based upon a political party, joining a social club, or by what the culture/world deems as acceptable. Conservative Convictions are based solely on the Word of God. Churches many times are being tore down by the world due to our conservative convictions. With the tear down by the world, many times Churches sadly bow to their request, weakening our convictions. Conviction is an unshakable belief in something without need for proof or evidence.

Paul wrote to young Timothy in 1st Timothy for the very purpose of pastoring a Church (Ephesus) that was allowing unsound theology and ungodly methodologies to creep in the Church. Therefore the theme verse for 1st Timothy is 3:15, it says, "but if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground for the truth." (KJV)

WHAT IS IT TODAY THAT CHURCHES OF CONSERVATIVE CONVICTIONS ARE BEING CONDEMNED FOR?

#1 - TRADITIONAL TIGHTNESS

Conservative Convictions in a believer will produce them to be deemed a "traditionalist". Traditionalist is defined as a stubbornly conservative and narrow-minded person. When you uphold the Bible, the never changing word of God, as your belief and behavior you will be deemed a narrow minded individual that doesn't change.

Today, American Churches have began to compromise with culture and broaden our minds to different doctrines and methods. SOME WAY'S THIS IS HAPPENING:  Jesus is not the only way to God, but one of the ways. Turning the Lord's DAY into the Lord's HOUR. (Sunday morning only services) Loosening up on the total abstinence of ALCHOOL. Allowing SEXUAL pleasure outside of marriage to be acceptable. Being addictive to a "lesser" drug, pain PILLS. Churches have loosened their standards, thinking they will gain people. While attempting to gain people by dropping our traditions and teaming up with worldly powers, we are seeing the power of God leave the Church of Christ and the country that was found on "in God we trust".   (Hosea 7:7-11)

"CULTURE COMPROMISE IS TO COMMIT SPIRITUAL SUICIDE"

#2 - PASSIONATE PERSUADERS

Conservatives holding to biblical convictions, are deemed as to aggressive. It's time we play offensive rather than defensive against a Liberal and aggressive take over? It was once in Biblical times and in our country we were passionate about persuading other's to the Word of God. The World is now trying to tell us: calm down, don't get to excited, don't door knock on my door, no need for to much church, Don't preach to long or to loud, make sure you got the right________. (fill in the blank)

I say to you Church across America, hold to a passionate pursuit of other's, snatching them out of the fire's of Hell. (Jude 20-23) The Word of God has changed lives for decades, and he still will do so today by the traditional and passionate pursuit of the Church!

#3 - NON-PROGRESSIVE

The bottom line here is, some things just don't need to be changed. Non - progressive Conservatives is considered as ole-fashion and out of date. The World is trying to tell us we need to change the way we do things, for it's a "new day".

America Church is attempting to be progressive in their methods, missing out on a out pour of the Holy Ghost sent from Heaven. In the very first revival of the Bible in Genesis 35, pictures Jacob returning back to bethel where he first meet God. He progressed back where the power of God was and not  forward where the power of God was missing.

TODAY MANY CHURCH'S ARE TO WORRIED ABOUT PROGRESSIVE WAY'S THAT WILL SUBDUE IN THE END. Churches look like a circus rather than a church service. Churches more worried about entertainment than evangelism. Today's Church wants the latest program rather than the presence of God that has Changed lives since the foundation of time.

CONCLUSION IS,  call me what you wanna call me, but I stand on the unchanging truths of the Word of God. I bend not for the progressive liberal culture in America society or religious circles of people trying to tell me to calm down for my Jesus!  When don't need a reformation or a "new way", we need Holy Ghost power and presence of revival to this land and to Church of Jesus Christ. (Acts 2, Jeremiah 31, 2 Chronicles 7)

WILL YOU JOIN WITH ME AS WE UPHOLD THE CONSERVATIVE CONVICTIONS THE CHURCH SHOULD BE HOLDING TO??

3 lessons in 3 months, to start 2013

It has been a year to remember at Faith Baptist Church and we are only 3 months into the year! The spirit of God has been moving, many are understanding the "ole path" in a brand new light. In an "ole time" preacher statement, "business is picking up". When the spirit of God begins to move amongst us, we become occupied with God's business. I am grateful for the move of God in the last few months, and the preacher's business has picked up!

Many of you are experiencing a great move of God in your life. Many more need to hear your testimony of these lessons and see God move in their life. God is on the move, I believe the "ole path" in Jeremiah can and will be the way to have a great revival in our land.

#1 -  THE FAMILY IS THE FOUNDATION

We kicked off 2013 with a series of M & M messages on the Family. Bible truths on the family was learned, producing many to serve the Lord as a family of the "ole paths". The spirit during these messages were overwhelming. God brought many together in fellowship as families spent quality time together at God's House. If the family is faltering then our society will falter as well! We have seen Children come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and alters filled with mom's & dad's praying!

#2 - REVIVAL IS RECEIVED

Today there is a trend saying revival doesn't work! I beg to differ! Many say revival is outdated, I say we need an ole fashion heaven sent revival. "Ole Path" of revival worked at our church, evidence was in the testimony of many in the Church responding to a faithfully attended, spirit filled weekend of revival services. It was an overwhelming weekend, fabulous music and wonderful preaching.

#3 - SANCTIFIED & SERVING

God began stirring spirits on the 1st Sunday of 2013, by the message out of Haggai Chapter 1, "stirred to serve".  It's been a joy to see so many in 2013 set themselves aside to the Lord's service. The faithfulness to the basic "ole paths" of a bible believing church have been phenomenal. So many are stepping up to serve the Lord and anxiously waiting for more opportunity to serve.

KEEP PLOWING FOR GOD'S GLORY IN 2013!! THERE IS MUCH MORE TO COME!!

Welcome

Welcome! Bro. Trey has started a blog for the continuing work as pastor of equipping the saved and evangelizing the lost! (Ephesians 4:11-16) I hope that you follow the blog, continuing to educate and equip yourself in the work of the kingdom of God! I will work toward weekly posts, however with the busy obligations that come with pastoring it may be a bi-weekly post. I will be checking the blog more frequently than weekly in order to stay in touch with you as you comment on the post. Please take the opportunity to interact with the post by leaving comments, thoughts, or questions in the comment section.
I am excited about my blog title, "THE OLE PATH". It comes from the bible book of Jeremiah in the sixth chapter and the sixteenth verse, it reads, "Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the OLD PATHS, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein." In society today evidence is showing we have left the old paths that we are to be walking, that society does not want the paths of Gods word! The church is caving in to the very mold by making church fit into cultural ways. The church is to change the culture and not the culture change the church! Culture compromise is a suicidal act of a church. Therefore, my first few blogs will be pertaining to some "old paths". Included will be some old paths on the family, the core of society!
Thank you for visiting and look forward to interacting with you through blogging!
